What got you started in prepress?

When I got out of college, I needed a job and got a position as a proofer at a printing plant. I moved from that to working in the Imposition department and then moved into the electronic side of things when if first started…boy I feel old now.

Who was a big influence in your career?

My Mom…she told me “When you get out of college you better get a job”. HA!

What was “your finest moment,” the thing you’re most proud of?

Finest moment would have to be the birth of my children. I can’t imagine there ever being a feeling better than that. From a career stand point I’d say just having a good work ethic and being dedicated to my job.

What attracted you to Ovation?

An ad in the paper indicating this company would be the last company you’ll want to work for. I had never been to the Lacrosse area before and now wonder what took so long to get here.

How do you come up with ideas and solutions for clients?

I leave that up to the Creative Directors.

What makes a great brand?

Something that you can recognize by the logo or jingle.

What driving career goals do you still have?

I’d like to be in an upper management position with an organization.

What's the most important thing you've learned about the advertising?

It is very competitive.

What talent do you wish you had?

I wish I could be able to fix my car when something is wrong.

Ice

Retire, play golf and travel to different sporting venues.

Is there any food that helps you think more creatively?

I don’t eat to be creative.

What’s your favorite sports team?

Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football. GO IRISH!! Also, the PACK.

If you could spend a day with any person, living or dead, who would it be?

Not sure…maybe Coach Jimmy Valvano (coached basketball at North Carolina State). He died from cancer at age 47. He gave such an inspiring speech at the ESPY awards shortly before he died. I’d love to sit and listen to him talk about how to live and appreciate life.

What’s your point of view about politics?

Blah, Blah, Blah!!

Do you have any pets?

Yes, a rescued greyhound named Brewsky. He is the most laidback dog you’ve ever seen.

What was growing up like for you?

Growing up seemed to be so carefree. The song “Different World” by Bucky Covington tells the story pretty well. I grew up in a Horicon, Wi, a small town of about 3500 people so it was nothing to hop on your bike and cruise all over town. My family was very tight and I enjoyed taking yearly trips up north and just being a kid.

What do you do for a good time when you’re not working?

I have a passion for coaching my son in basketball. Running and lifting weights is also a part of my lifestyle. I enjoy doing just about anything as a family.

Do you have any kids?

Yes, I have 2 wonderful children. My daughter is Shanna, 17, a Senior in high school. She is a great student and loves to play volleyball. She is considering going to UW-Stout for multimedia. My son is Brady, 14, an eighth grader in middle school. He is also a great student and his first love is basketball and also plays football.

What are your favorite Web sites?

coachesclipboard.net for basketball coaching tips, espn.com, sportsline.com, nfl.com, uhnd.com. Oh, did I mention I like sports.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

If I had to pick just one it would probably be Hawaii. My wife and I have never been there and I’ve always wanted to see the beauty of the flowers and blue waters.
