What got you started in advertising?

I liked to draw as a kid, and it was a natural extension of that.

Who was a big influence in your career?

Pete Coy. Just starting out, he took the time to help me and treated my work with respect (even though it was a half-baked, just-out-of-school portfolio).

What was “your finest moment,” the thing you’re most proud of?

My last project.

What was your most embarrassing moment in this business?

Answering this questionnaire.

Is there a great client story you’d care to share?

Of course not.

What attracted you to Ovation?

People and great parking.

How do you come up with ideas and solutions for clients?

Doodle away, anytime of the day or night.

What makes a great brand?

Consistency.

What driving career goals do you still have?

None. I am on my way down from the mountaintop. Nah, just try and do a good job no matter how big or small the project.

What’s your biggest pet peeve? (work or personal)

Clients not realizing I have all the answers or maybe just meetings that run loooooooong.

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned about the advertising?

Execution…there are a lot of good ideas, but…

What talent do you wish you had?

Calligraphy. I suck at it.

If you had to live on a desert island, what would you miss most?

Would this desert island have cable?

What can’t you live without?

My family.

What are your plans for after advertising?

The usual stuff, solving world crises, finding a cure for the common cold.

Is there any food that helps you think more creatively?

Caffeine.

What’s your favorite sports team?

Pittsburgh Steelers.

If you could spend a day with any person, living or dead, who would it be and what would you do?

I guess we are supposed to pick a celebrity, so I will take John Lennon. We would bowl, of course.

What’s your point of view about politics?

Left, I don’t understand how anybody can be right.

Do you have any pets?

Too many.

What was growing up like for you?

Swell, I have no one I need to blame for anything.

What do you do for a good time when you’re not working?

Doing nothing is pretty cool to me.

Do you have any kids?

Yep.

What advertising/catalogs do you most admire?

Apple.

What are your favorite Internet sites?

NY Times.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

Canada, it’s close and it doesn’t have a beach.
